What this is
NZ Startup Ground is a directory. Founders publish what their startup needs, and people register interest. We are not a party to anything that happens next.
Expressions of interest only
Nothing published here is an offer. Not an offer of employment, not an offer of a contract, and specifically not an offer of financial products under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013.
Every listing is a signal that leads to a conversation off the platform. Investment listings must not include amounts, valuations, instruments or terms. If you publish one that does, we will remove it.
If you are raising capital, getting your own legal advice about how you do it is your responsibility, not ours.
Your account
- Give us accurate information and keep it current
- You are responsible for what happens under your account
- Only publish a startup you are genuinely part of. Claiming someone else’s company is grounds for removal.
- One person can hold several startups, and a startup can have several people. Owners control who has access.
What you publish
You keep ownership of everything you publish. By publishing it, you give us permission to display it on the site and in search results.
Do not publish anything that is:
- False, misleading, or a company that does not exist
- Someone else’s intellectual property
- Discriminatory, harassing or unlawful
- Personal information about someone who has not agreed to it being public
Listings expire
Listings close 60 days after publishing unless you refresh them. If a startup profile is not confirmed as current for six months it drops to the bottom of the directory and its listings come down. Nothing is deleted and links keep working.
This exists so the directory stays honest. A board full of dead asks is worse than an empty one.
Placement is not for sale
We do not sell ranking, placement or featured slots — not in the startup directory, and not in any service provider listings we add later. If we ever earn money from a provider listed here, we will say so on the page.
Moderation
You can publish immediately. We review afterwards, and we may edit, unpublish or remove anything that breaks these terms. We may suspend accounts that do so repeatedly.
We do not vouch for anyone
We check what we reasonably can, and a verified badge means we have confirmed a company’s registration against the New Zealand Business Number register. It does not mean we endorse them, vouch for their competence, or have checked their claims.
Do your own due diligence before hiring anyone, signing anything, or investing money.
Liability
We provide this service as-is. We are not liable for the outcome of any introduction made through it, or for anything a startup or a respondent does.
Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those apply.
Ending it
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
